Dhanteras

Dhanteras, also called Dhanatrayodashi, comes from the Sanskrit words “Dhan” (meaning wealth) and “Teras” (the thirteenth day). Celebrated on the thirteenth day of Kartik’s Krishna Paksha, this day honors Lord Dhanvantari, the deity of Ayurveda and health, who is believed to have emerged from the cosmic ocean churning (Samudra Manthan) carrying Amrit, the life-giving nectar.
